Galatians 3:15-22 “Gods promise: Jesus Christ”. To Abrahm does not change because of the giving of the Law. The law shows peoples need for Gods promise Jesus Christ given to the people who believe.
Recap intro:
The righteous shall live by faith, and Christ reemed us from the curse of the law, becoming a curse for us, by his death on the cross, so that in Christ Jesus, (the blessing of Abrham) might come to the Gentiles so that we might receive the promised Spirt, by faith.
Paul will now further explain how the law does not change the promise God gave to Abrham.
First points out, even agreements/wills /covants between people are not changed, when it is agreed on.
Pointing out again that Gods promise was made to Abrham that his offspring, singular, Paul makes it clear that the Jesus Christ is the offspring that will bless all the nations. The promise of Jesus Christ was not changed by the giving of the law, instead I showed the people the need for a savior/ to trust God words.
Therefore the law that comes 430 years later dose not chancel Gods promise to Abrham, that God would bless all nations by Jesus Christ.
But if inheritance come by the law, it is no longer by Gods promise. – But Paul makes it clear that God did give Abrham the promise. So faith is by hearing, and by thrusting in Gods promise (Jesus life, death, ressuraction). That gives right standing with God. Not by finding it in the law.
Then why did God give the law, It was added because people sinned, and transgressed against God and one another, it was a way to show people how to live and to love God and one’s neighbor (Not only trust you heart or your consince or your own feelings). (A lot is also about practical madders of bacteria, sickness, and how to worship God ), by not to bring righteousness and salvation. And put in place to help people trust in God.
Then is the law opposite to Gods promise, Paul writes no, it was not contery it, the law was a help to people to trust in God, and lead people until the promise in Jesus Christ, be given to those who believe.
God’s promise is all God, - there is no part on Abraham’s part. God holds the whole promise.
The Law and other agreements are 2 sited God word, and our obligation to obey, will cause blessing or curse, God pointing out how the world works, when we follow trust in God’s ways and how God made everything. And when we don’t trust God’s ways. The law came to show people how to live, but they did not trust in God. God still kept his promise of Jesus Christ.
Then what do we learn about God? And the law? And Gods Promise?
God promise is better that the law,
The law shows our need for God and his promise of Jesus Christ,
Gods promise it only about God, and his will.
The law brings a blessing and a curse, when we fail it, - it was there any way, it just made it obvious, that we are a curse when we don’t trust in Gods promise and trust in other things and or people, we curse people and are cursed, we sin and are sinned against, broken and break others.
We can do the same if we make a set of rugels/deeds, and make them the way we get right standing with God. You are only rigiuous if… you pray, serve, give, share the Gospel, have the right clothe, get baptized, or what ever our church tradtions say. Culture will also have a way: “You are only righteous if you don’t eat meat, or if you recycle, or if you are tolerant of all opinions (except if it is not mine), - if you are productive, if you many enough likes of different social media,
What about in your circle of friends/workplace/ school what does it take to be in right standing? What are the voices saying? You need to do?
What does Gods say?
And what was Paul’s great heart for the Galatians?
No, you don’t make your self rigtiuos, God did in sending his promise, Jesus Christ and your rightstanding came the same as Abrhams and all others, by faith in the promise of God, Jesus Christ.
That also means that we are not to labor in good works in our own strength, but as Paul wrote in verse 14, work by the power of Holy Spirt of God. Not to be justified but because we are.
God gives the better promises, we often misunderstand, and think it is more up to us, that to God, like this sermon, man I tried so hard, got no ware, until I get ask: Lord help, - you need to work, I wonder how different my life and yours would be if we were ever aware of this practically, and always was relying on the Holy Spirt of all moments of our life… The fun or strange thing is, that is where abundant life with Jesus is, not in our works but in his, it is the life I/we want to live, I wounder if we are lead astray just as much and often as the Galatians were, to trust in something ells for our justification and power to life with Jesus Christ.
I do think that is why this letter is so very relevant today, as it was then, as I look around, youtube, facebook, TV, school, work, I see many trying to justify them self, others doing the same thing, and all of them, getting the same, nothing but vain cheers from other humans with the same opinion, but that is not what justifies us before God. (We can justify our self in our own works before other men, that does not lead to freedom, only slavery). Religious people can do the same, I got to do this then God can accept me, NO, he cant accept you on behalf of your works, - it is by his promise, by Jesus Christ work, by hearing with faith. It is God’s gift,
The confusing part?
So, we do no good works? Paul worked harder than anyone, in the Spirt.
No, there are works laid out for us to walk in, but not so we save our self, - but because God saved us and we understand what God, what Jesus accomplished, and with the gift of the Holy Spirt we work as hard as we can in step with the Holy Spirt, loving God and loving people. We don’t add something so we are made righteous, - but as we understand more and more we are Jesus work Gods promise, we live that out that we will be us wanting to walk in the good works God has laid out for us to walk in. (Fruit of the Spirt).

God promise it held by God alone… no other can mess it up…
